After dropping Magician’s Mistress earlier this year, Aela Hopeful Monster is back with another exciting project entitled RAT. It kicks off with the lead single of the same name. “Baby come over – I’m pretty as organized crime” Aela raps, as she sets the tone for what is her most fierce project to date. Backed up by long term collaborator Kasino Kam, the album contains various songs produced by the Californian producer and DJ. Snapped is another great example of the chemistry between the two. Aela goes in and makes clear that she won’t be ignored “I wonder if they / came to praise the lord / what  a slap in the face / cuz I’m adored”. Currently living in New York, Aela has been influenced by the grimey soundscapes of the city. In Ombre, she takes us on a journey to the dark alleys of the Rotten Apple while she raps about the “dark sides of the streets / where fiends can’t get enough to eat”. Other standouts are Golden Child and Lock Jaw Candy Shop, composed by French hip hop producer Grolok Panicrum. The album ends with a heartfelt tribute to the recently passed Fred The Godson R.I.P.  Every album Aela Hopeful Monster shows why she is sticking to her own style because she keeps getting better, and it won’t be ignored!
